To prosper in today’s highly competitive marketplace manufacturers protect their market position by continually improving their products and being quick to market. The ever-decreasing product cycle time puts enormous pressure on designers to ensure a successful launch.

As a die casting engineer with more than 35 years of experience in prototype and low volume casting production, I have a deep appreciation and understanding of the challenges you, as a designer, face.

With multiple prototyping options available, choosing the one that will assure the success of your program has a lot to do with a clear understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of different process options and their impact on the viability of your prototypes.

A simple way to avoid the trap of using the wrong prototyping process is to ask yourself honestly why you favor one process over another. Review the real reason(s) behind the choice, and don’t be fooled by fancy rationalizations. If the process is not ideal for that particular part design, and you are not fully convinced that your prototype supplier is giving you the best advice, then take the time to investigate further. The characteristics of the part and the reason for producing the prototype (such as mechanical testing) should guide your final choice of prototyping process. This has frequently been the subject of my writings and speeches to industry groups and is an area where we can help to assure the success of your program.  Aluma Cast brings its expertise in prototyping and low volume casting production as well as its craftmanship to bear on the success of your prototyping program.

You have our unconditional guarantee that you will receive the full benefit of our accumulated casting engineering expertise and production craftsmanship. Our goal is simply to make your part design a resounding success.

Your partner in a successful prototype program

Aluma Cast offers a unique blend of artistry in metals and engineering expertise. The result is a deep appreciation and understanding of the designer’s work and the challenges he faces. Knowing that design changes are integral to the design/prototyping process, we make every effort to work with you to allow for changes ensure a successful end product.

CAD Files
We can work with any of the commercially accepted design programs to assure you of prototypes that will meet all of your requirements.

Metallurgy
The mechanical properties of parts cast with the same material but using different processes will produce differing results. Proper alloy selections are crucial to viable prototypes. The knowledge and skills we provide will assure you of a successful outcome.

Casting Processes
You decide what end result you are seeking and we will guide you to the process that will get you there. Here are some of the prototyping casting processes we use to achieve the success you are looking for: Precision Sand, Investment Casting, “Quick Dies,” and Hog-Outs.

Secondary Services
Aluma Cast provides turnkey prototyping services. We can deliver to you parts that have been further processed including heat treating, secondary machining, painting, coating and assembly.

Low Volume Production
Sometimes production requirements are no high enough to justify the production of expensive tooling, or you require interim production during the construction of permanent tooling. In either case Aluma Cast can help meet your needs efficiently and cost-effectively.

Aluma Cast has created prototype aluminum and zinc castings for a variety of industries: aviation, automotive, medical, defense, marine, industrial equipment, utility, appliances and consumer products.

We look forward to the opportunity to serve your prototype and low volume production requirements in a timely, cost-effective manner.
