Alumacast is following the developments in the application of nanotechnology in metal castings.
Nano-particles offer the potential to greatly increase the strength of lightweight alloys like aluminum while maintaining the inherent properties of aluminum, such as the ease of machining the material. It appears that early successes will be in the casting of small batches of material. We are keeping a close watch on these exciting developments especially as they pertain to prototype aluminum casting and short run production castings.
